LITCHFIELD PARK, AZ – Hershberger Performance Horse Sale Company, Jason and Nikki Hershberger, held their 13th annual performance horse sale Saturday, February 10th, at the Double T Arena.  Horses were previewed on Friday in a jackpot team roping. The jackpot was won by Ryan Von Ahn riding hip #9 FK Eclipse, and Bode Baize, riding hip #71 Peeknachoo. It was a tough roping and fun to watch! Ryan and Bode were awarded .308’s, which were sponsored by Terry Larson and Southwest Risk Management.

Horses were previewed again on Saturday morning.  Horses were demonstrated in the events of: roping, cutting, and cow horse. The sale began at 1pm. A professional staff included: auctioneer Joel White, announcer John Johnson, and bid spotters Stacy Lee, Mitch Armitage, and Shane Hatch.  Ross Wagner did a great job announcing the previews.

The high-selling horse, Country Gold Man, a 2011 gray gelding, was consigned by Mozaun McKibben. This pretty rope horse is a very cool horse. He sold for $44,500 to RPX Enterprises from Guthrie, OK. Other top sellers were FK Eclipse, consigned by Ryan Von Ahn, which sold for $40,000 to Steve Freed from California. Ryan also sold the third high seller Pro Gun, a very nice red roan gelding, for $30,000. Other top 10 selling horses were consigned by: Turner Performance Horses, Estevan Castillo, Bode Baize, Seth Hall, Annette Stahl, Zeph Schulz, and Jason Hershberger. The top 10 horses averaged $27,400.

Jason is always excited to see good horses from the sale go on to be successful with their new owners. We were excited to see the quality of horses that were brought by consignors from Arizona, New Mexico, Minnesota, Canada, California, Missouri, Idaho, Colorado, Texas, Utah and Montana. The overall average sale price on horses sold was $12,900. Despite the high average there were some good buys of really nice horses for under $10,000. Thanks to the consignors who brought these quality horses.

This year’s lucky buyer was Bryan Buchanan. Bryan took home the KO Elite trophy saddle from the raffle drawing at the end of the sale. A special thank you to Terry Larson and Southwest Risk Management for the trophy rifles to the high volume buyer and high seller.

Good food, beautiful Arizona weather, elite equine facility, shopping, and great horses to watch and bid on made this years performance horse sale a success. Hershberger Performance Horses would like to thank all who attended. We are grateful to all of our buyers that trust in the quality brought to the Hershberger Performance Horse Sale.
