RENO, NEVADA – Rhonda Marie Garaventa, 35, peacefully passed to be with the Lord on Oct. 2, 2015, after a courageous battle with colon cancer, while surrounded by her family.
Rhonda was born Dec. 10, 1979, at St. Mary’s hospital in Reno to Gary and Melody Garaventa and is the youngest of three daughters. She grew up in Eureka, Nev., attended Eureka Elementary School and graduated from Eureka County High School. Rhonda continued her post-secondary education at the International School of Cosmetology. She worked as a cosmetologist for several years, then for Trench Plate Rental Company and later for SNC (Sierra Nevada Construction) in Reno, and lastly for Barrick Gold, Ruby Hill in Eureka.
Rhonda loved the outdoors – camping, fishing, hunting, riding horses and roping. She also enjoyed photography – taking pictures at brandings, ropings, all things outdoors, and especially her nieces and nephews.
Rhonda is survived by her parents; sisters Roxanne (Ty Thompson) and Rosie (Chad Bliss) and nieces and nephews Trigg and Tripp Thompson, and Hannah, Nicholas, Natalie and Hadley Bliss, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who dearly loved her.
A rosary was held Oct. 9 and services were at the Eureka County Fairgrounds Oct. 10.
