CHOWCHILLA, CA – The 62nd annual Chowchilla Western Stampede kicked off March 8 with the annual cattle drive down Robertson Boulevard. It’s always great to see the community come together to continue to make this rare event happen yearly.
The jackpot showed strong numbers with team numbers totaling 650. The payout was $65,000 cash along with numerous prizes throughout the weekend. With the hard work of the Stampede committee and support from the Chowchilla community and surrounding communities, $10,000 was added to our 8 steer average and $2,000 added to the recently added #5.5. Both 8 steer long averages paid over $3,000 a man. Both 4 steer short averages paid $1,000 a man.
Eric Cozzitorto brought in a great set of steers for all of our numbered ropings. Billy Butler did an outstanding job with the flagging. The chute help kept things rolling and never slowed down. The office staff was able to get the event rolling on time and ran a professional jackpot all weekend. The committee would like to thank everyone who came out and supported this historical jackpot.
