SANGER, CALIF. – The California ACTRA Chapter Finals were held September 16-19 at S Bar J Arena in Sanger. Ropers from all over the state showed up to lay claim to $120,000 in Chapter Finals awards, and $21,600 in added money.
The year-end awards were also handed out in Sanger, with 108 awards valued at $75,000. The tale of the tape shows a grand total of $216,600. Based on these numbers one would have to think that ACTRA was a big success in 2021.
We want to thank Steve Simons and his great crew for putting together a very professional and well-planned event.  We also want to thank Jodi Branco for taking care of the stalls and running the daily Catastrophe Fund raffles. Jodi did a great job as usual. She got an assist from Bryon Abshire and of course, Larry McGrady. A big thank you to Sandy Perez for stepping up and handling the raffle on Sunday.
Talk about stepping up, how about Rikki Perezchica stepping up and taking on the Kids Dummy Roping in Sanger. A great group of kids competed for some beautiful Skyline buckles. There were plenty of prizes to go around for all the kids, thanks to Rikki. We want to thank Steve Simons again for making sure all kids went home with a new rope.
The office help was nothing short of fabulous. Thank you to Toni, Cory, Brenda and Tonja.  Thanks to Billy Butler for handling the flagging duties, great job Billy. We would also like to thank Lee Legasey for taking care of the Breakaway roping and the PA system for the awards. Speaking of awards, Vice President Larry McGrady did a fantastic job distributing the year-end awards as well as the Finals awards. This Vice President doesn’t shy away from a job and gets it done with the utmost efficiency. A little political humor! What about our President JT Bradley stepping up and taking charge. This is JT’s first year as President and he has made sure all the i’s were dotted and the t’s were crossed. We all need to give JT a pat on the back for a great job!
