Jack Curry Wins Cactus Saddle At Quincy Ropings

Bar 7S Productions’ Memorial Weekend Roping was held for the 13th time at Quincy, Calif., from May 24 to 28. We had some really wet weather over the weekend, but we were still able to finish all of the scheduled jackpots and give away all of the awards. Attendance was down at least partly due to the bad weather, but the ropers who did make it to Quincy had a good time.

The Future Champion roping was held on Saturday, May 26.  Even the youngsters had to cowboy up and rope in the rain.  They were all winners and all took home ropes.  The buckle winners were Jet Neer (6 and under), Blaine Wolf (7 to 9), and Tyler Esteves (10 to 12).  The rope winners were Wade Mundell, Dutch Mundell, Haley Esteves, James Esteves, Tia Sanders, Hailey Hicks, Emma Mundell, Sydnie Moore, Holden Hicks, Christian Esteves, and Cora Mundell. Thanks to Steer Gear for producing the future champion roping and for contributing to the ropes. J.R. and Lynn Cordova also help sponsor the Steer Gear Rope Certificates we award in nearly every jackpot. We appreciate having Steer Gear at the roping to provide ropes, gear, and a big variety of gift items for the ropers.  In addition, they convinced Pro Equine to donate splint boots to our roping. We also want to thank Pro Equine for their contributions.
We especially want to thank the arena help (Tara Moore, Betty Estep, Janie, Cole Sherrill) and the office help (Penny Utterback, Bonnie Miller, James Miller). You all did a fantastic job! Thanks to the food vendor, We Cook for You (Diana and Edgar), for keeping us well fed and refreshed. I also want to thank Amy Mundell for helping with the stalls and camping. Oren Morrison was always available to help with whatever was needed. Thanks to all of the ropers who attended.
 We even had one jackpot just because people still wanted to rope on Sunday. Even though this jackpot was unadvertised (and therefore it would not count for ACTRA points) and the ropers were roping for money only, we still had 22 teams.
