We all seem to enjoy justice for other people but, really don’t like it when it comes our way. If someone breaks into our house we want him caught, shot, put in jail or made to pay. Its easy to seek justice when we have been wronged. Paybacks or karma are sweet for the moment.
A header at a jackpot the other night called for a steer and the chute man opened the gate. The header pulled up and instantly said “I didn’t call for the steer.” The flagger looked at the chute help and said “give him another one.” The header, knowing the cattle, called for the next steer that seemed to be more to his liking. To some who were waiting their turn, it seemed like he was wanting an easier steer. He promptly went out and missed this second steer. “Cowboy Justice” and “that’s what he gets” was heard in the crowd. Sometimes It makes us feel better to think that he got what he deserved.
When I think about justice I’m pleased that I don’t always get what I deserve. The bible says “we all sin and fall short of God’s holy standard.” “For the wages of our sin is death, but God’s gift to us is eternal life, by believing in His Son Jesus.” Our sin had to be punished and Jesus went to the cross to die for our sins. God served justice by condemning His own Son and punishing Him for our sin. Instead of justice we can receive His gift of grace and mercy that we don’t deserve.
Repent of your sin and receive His gift for you. Rope great, enjoy life and rope that next steer with confidence because that’s what He deserves. For comments and prayer requests contact Kip at kipley3385@sbcglobal.net
