It sure did not stop ropers from loading up and heading to the great indoor facilities to rope for $5,000 added cash, buckles, breast collars and more. Held the first weekend in March, a #7.5 Handicap Roping was held on Friday night. 176 teams entered the 3 for $50 with Angel Villalobus and James Ferreira taking the win and $1,360 each. Saturday was the day for the famed Chowchilla 8 Steer Roping. Fifty teams entered in the #7 Handicap portion with Brad Lewis and Tristan Luther roping their 8 head in 83.30 seconds, winning $1,685 each. Blake Hirdes and Anival Guerrero won the #10.5 Roping. They took home $2,225 each for their time of 68.80. Seventy-three teams took a swing in the #10.5 Roping. Sunday, March 3, was a great day of roping. Colton Haynes and Clay Horton won the #6 Handicap (149 teams), Austin Paddock and Emry Selby, the #5.5 Handicap (208 teams) and the final roping, the #4.5 Pick & Draw (143 teams) winners were Jamie Fontes and Aiden Amador.
