The following directors were present: Willie Worley, Billy Fulton, Aaron Bean, Hunter Lowry, Joey Sanchez, Larry McGrady, Erik Pybas, Hank Brown, Eric Cozzitorto, Lisa Jones, Ken Paddock, Bill Horner, Rikki Perezchica, Mike Bettencourt, Tres Porter, Jessica Cardoza, Karen Russell, Jim Waggoner, Donald Ornellas, Steve Hatcher. Guests: None present Minutes: Minutes from the November meeting were presented and approved. Financial report: November/December financial documents were shared and approved. National Director Report: There hasn’t been a National meeting since our last meeting. Bill Horner did report getting to meet with many sponsors in Vegas. Wrangler and Professional’s Choice have both renewed for three more years. A three-year contract has been signed with the same announcer and videographer. C Bar C Photography and RopeSmart will return as well. A new buckle sponsor will be chosen this year. Arena Updates: Our arena operator appreciation drawing was completed. Average Joe Productions was drawn as the recipient of their fees back. We appreciate our great arena operators and hope this drawing shows them our gratitude. Membership; 702 paid members. 800 total members. NEW BUSINESS: Ropers Sports News advertising: some arena operators have expressed a desire to eliminate the requirement of ads having to go through the Ropers Sports News office for a roping to be sanctioned even if the ad won’t make it into the actual paper. A motion was made to change our rule to recommend ropings be advertised in the Ropers Sports News but not require it. Good discussion followed about the importance of the paper and all of the ways that Steph supports our operators and association. The motion did not get a second and it was decided to keep the requirement and revisit the topic in the future if necessary. Banquet Improvements: The wine tasting was great. We want to talk more about the banquet in person. Please send any ideas to JT or Daphne. Cattle Bids: We will choose bids at our March meeting. Daphne will put the sheets out on social media in February. A director asked why we don’t put out cattle bids for SoCal. Jeff Fontes produces that event for us and he has always provided cattle. Discussion followed about needing a different herd for the higher numbered ropings and JT is going to discuss it with Jeff. OLD BUSINESS: Director roping: We have struggled to plan the director roping factoring in so many different schedules. March 23rd looks like it might work. More information will come. Ropers without memberships: We need to educate arena operators on the risk of allowing members to rope without a membership. Daphne will continue to send out lists. Anonymous voters will be tabled and discussed at the inperson meeting. Catastrophe Fund: None JT adjourned the meeting at 8:18. We will not have a meeting in February. The next meeting will be an in person director roping on March 23rd. California ACTRA Board Meeting Minutes
