Richard “Dick” Renfroe
Richard Royce Renfroe, 92, entered into eternal rest on April 23, 2017 in Merced, Calif. He was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Magna, Utah.
Richard was a Navy Tail Gunner in a torpedo plane during WWII. After his service he worked as a crop duster for more than 40 years, starting at Precissi Flying Service, Lodi Calif., and ending with his own business, Renfroe Flying Service in Acampo, Calif.
Richard enjoyed team roping and raising cattle.
Long-time friend and Ropers Sports News owner Bob Feist adds that Dick was a real friend of the cowboys, not only in word but by his actions. Dick once loaned Bob one of his planes at no charge, so Bob could go check on his own plane which was being worked on over 100 miles away.
Dick is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Renfroe, three brothers and one sister.
Richard is survived by his longtime companion Violet Craigholm, sons Walt (Gina) Renfroe and Ted (Pam) Renfroe, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
At Richard’s request, there were no services.
