PLYMOUTH, CALIF. – The 10th Annual California Junior High Rodeo Division Finals were held in Plymouth, Calif. May 16-18. As with previous years, the weather was great and the competition amazing. We had a few more contestants this year and a large number of rookies. Thanks to the community of Plymouth and the Amador County Fairgrounds, our rodeo staff and Casey Minton, the CHSRA Jr. High Vice President. After three days of events the National Team was narrowed down.
Those students then went on to the National Finals in Des Moines, Iowa. We had many Calif. contestants do well in the early go-rounds and seven make it to the short round Saturday, June 28. Four of the short round qualifiers finished in the top 10 of the Nation: Payton Lopez and Hector Dukes took sixth in the Team Roping; Junior Liufau Jr. took 10th in the Bull Riding; Davis Mardesich was 10th in the Chute Dogging.
