CTEC Returns to the Lazy E Arena for Five Rounds of Intense Action March 5–7
Guthrie, Okla. — The Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma, has announced that the 2026 Cinch Timed Event Championship (CTEC) will take place March 5–7, bringing together the most elite all-around cowboys in professional rodeo. The arena also confirmed the first ten athletes who will return to compete in the iconic event.
The Cinch Timed Event Championship challenges 25 athletes to excel in five timed events: team roping heading, team roping heeling, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, and steer roping. Over five rounds in three days, contestants will battle for a share of more than $200,000 in prize money, with the champion claiming the prestigious CTEC title and a $100,000 paycheck.
The remaining athlete invitations are under review and will be announced in the coming months. Ten competitors have already secured their places: Ketch Kelton, the 2025 champion, who topped the podium with an aggregate time of 338.6 seconds and\$109,000 after winning Rounds 1, 2, and 5. Dylan Hancock, second overall at 436.3 seconds and $36,000, highlighted by a third-place finish in Round 5. Brushton Minton, third with 437.2 seconds and $15,000. Seth Hall, fourth at 444.9 seconds and $11,000, boosted by a third-place finish in Round 2. Kyle Lockett, 2011 champion, fifth with 446.0 seconds and $9,500, including a second-place finish in Round 2. Riley Wakefield, sixth with 463.6 seconds and $5,000, with multiple top-five round times. Paul David Tierney, 2016 champion, seventh at 464.8 seconds and $4,500, showing steady performances across the board. Russell Cardoza, eighth with 474.8 seconds and $3,000. Marcus Theriot, 2021 champion, ninth at 480.6 seconds, winning Round 4 and placing second in Round 3. Cody Doescher, 2023 champion, tenth at 480.7 seconds, winning Round 3 and placing second in Round 1.

– Monty “HP” Evetts, 1974 World Champion Team Roper with nine NFR appearances, also a Hollywood stuntman and lifelong roper.
– Bobby Goodspeed, 12-time NFR qualifier and calf roper from a legendary rodeo family with wins at Cheyenne, Denver and Albuquerque.
– Charlie Throckmorton, PRCA announcer for nearly 40 years and known as a walking repository of rodeo history.
