Hannon & Woodard Win Businessmen’s Invitational Roping
SAN DIMAS, CA. –During a beautiful Southern California weekend in October, the fans of the San Dimas Western Days Rodeo got to see a tide of red Wrangler National Patriot shirts worn by the 44 contestants who competed in the Businessmen’s Invitational Team Roping event. This roping event was comprised of 22 Non-Pro and Pro-Am teams. The Businessmen dedicated their event to the brave men and women who serve our country in the military as well as those heroes who have already served our country. . .our veterans. To assist in this tribute, Wrangler donated National Patriot Shirts to each contestant.
First place, which paid $4,000 went to John Hannon, a rancher/farmer, of Brawley, Calif. and Travis Woodard, a PRCA team roper, of Stephenville, Texas.
Second Place, which paid $3,000, went to David Thew, a concrete contractor, of San Dimas, Calif. and Lidden Cow-den, a PRCA team roper, of El Monte, Calif.
Third place, which paid $2,000, went to Greg Keenan, Keenan Development Company of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., and Dugan Kelly, PRCA team roper of Paso Robles, Calif. and Dr. Larry Kelly, veterinarian of Lomita, Calif.
Fast time in Saturday’s performance went to Steve Freed, a real estate investor from Beverly Hills, Calif., and Angel Crosthwaite of Thousand Oaks, Calif. Fast time in Sunday’s performance went to Rick Klicka, an agricultural consultant from Brawley, Calif., and Danny Necochea of Lakeside, Calif. Fast times paid $250 per man.
Pete Miller, of Toyota of Glendora, who roped with the Legendary 2X World Champion team roper Walt Woodard, came up with the idea of having a Businessmen’s Invitational Team Roping event in the actual performance of the San Dimas Western Days Rodeo 17 years ago. Since then, the event has evolved to 22 teams this year. The businessmen not only compete in the rodeo, but also sponsor the rodeo.
