Wanda and Wilma Ludwig were born December 16, 1935.
Wanda Cagliari passed away in Fallon, Nevada on December 8 of COVID, and was buried in the Old Auburn Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Cagliari Wilbanks.
Wilma Hybarger passed away in Fallon, Nevada on December 14 of dementia and was buried in Fallon. She is survived by her children Cindy and Russ Ferretto and family.
First known in Auburn for delivering milk for their Ludwig Dairy, they became excellent horsewomen.
They began trick riding in 1956 at local fairs, were in parades, roping competitions, and special events. They were members of Auburn Sierra Rangers. They went on to compete in rodeos all over the West, roping but mostly barrel racing.
Wanda earned 10 NSPRA Barrel Racing Championships. She qualified for the National Senior Pro Rodeo Finals for 17 years, from 1990 to 2007.
Wilma competed on the Senior Pro Rodeo Association circuit and was reserve world champion in all around and barrel racing in 2003.
Both won the Canadian National Senior Pro Rodeo Championship, one each year. In their spare time they trained horses. In December of 2001 they were both inducted into the Nevada Horseman’s Hall of Fame.
