BISHOP, CALIF. – The California High School Rodeo Association just finished another year with a fantastic State Finals in Bishop. Once again, our gratitude goes out to all our parent volunteers and directors who worked tirelessly to make everything happen. Our golf tournament was the largest ever with 52 golfers raising money for our scholarship foundation. The week was packed with fun and competition. Many families extend the days spent in Bishop to enjoy the outdoor experience of the Eastern Sierras. The community rallies to make everyone feel welcome and the rodeo be successful. This year our “Pink” night brought in the largest donation thus far ($2,185) for the Eastern Sierra Breast Cancer Alliance, a group that lends support to community members suffering from all types of cancer with gas money, hotel rooms, groceries or whatever they need to overcome their disease.
This year was a particularly great year and we have many state sponsors who also made that happen. Cactus Saddlery, Cactus Gear, Cactus Ropes, Heel-O-Matic, Resistol Hats, Platinum Performance, Les Schwab Tires, Hesston by Massey Ferguson California Dealers, Quinn Company, Jordan Central, Holt of California, Quality Machinery, Professional Bull Riders, Ropers Sports News, Boot Barn, Ariat, Cargill, Zack Ranch, the Bishop Chamber of Commerce, City and Eastern Sierra Tri County Fair Board.
At the end of the week we crowned the 2014 State Champions. Congratulations to all those who will represent California at Nationals in Rock Springs, Wyo. this month. The week’s competition proved to be tough and anyone who competed in Bishop should be proud.
