2011 USTRC Wine Country Classic

The USTRC moved the West Coast Regional Finals to September and so to fill the void they added the Wine Country Classic at the California Mid State Fairgrounds in Paso Robles, Calif. on June 24-26, 2011. The event was one that ropers enjoyed.
Chris White from Shandon, Calif. and Travis Stewart from Janesville, Calif. teamed up to win the incentive average and the main average of the Open Division.
Tammy White from Los Osos, Calif. and Angel Crosthwaite from Heppner, Ore. were the champions of the #15 Division. They were 44.50 seconds on five steers and took the top honors. They received $1,266, trophy leather rope bags and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Dar Perez and Bill Finks and third place was White and Stewart.
Cousins Dalton Pearce and Sterling Twisselman both from San Luis Obispo, Calif. were the first place finishers in the #13 Division. They were 44.80 seconds on five steers and landed $1,988, trophy leather rope bags and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Lane Santos Karney and Twisselman and third place was Kalai Nobriga and Cody Parker.
Hawaii header Brian Anderson teamed up with Cody Parker to win the average in the #12 Division. They were 33.32 seconds on four steers and took home $2,368, trophy Martin saddles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Karney and Gary Gist, while third place went to Kullen Burk and Scott Hutchins. Dean Drosos from Gilbert Ariz. and Clint Nicholson from Morro Bay, Calif. won the incentive.
The second day of the Wine Country Classic began with the #12 Gold Plus. The winners were Alison Grantham from Creston, Calif. and Scott Hutchings from San Miguel, Calif. They were 35.79 seconds on four steers and won $1,928, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Ryan White and Aletha “Peewee” Barkley, while third place went to Ryan Browder and Gary Gist. Jill Johnson and Glenn Teixeira won the incentive average.
Cody Golding from Atascadero, Califo. was the star of the #11 Division. The header took first and second in the main average. He and Danny Leslie from San Miguel, Calif. were the champions with a time of 34.61, seconds on four steers. They won $3,126, trophy Martin saddles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Golding and Karney and third went to Ryan Hageman and Danny Fleming. Hageman and Ryan Southwick won the incentive average.
Hometown header Pete Clark teamed up with Clint Pearce to win the average of the #10 Division. The team was 37.08 seconds on four steers and won $3,482, trophy Martin saddles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was Ryan Browder and Tim Peltzer and third was Cathie and Rowly Twisselman. The incentive champions out of the roping were Larry McGrady and Christopher Smith.
The winners of the #9 Division were Diane Schieltz and John Richardson. They were 45.11 seconds on four steers and took home $3,908, trophy Martin saddles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place was the team of Doug Lester and Matt Schieltz and third place was Rob Gerner and Terry Holiday. Jill Johnson and Tim Peltzer won the incentive average.
The final roping of the weekend was the #8 Pick/Draw. Larry McGrady and Manuel Jorge won the average with a time of 37.39 seconds on three steers. They won $2,138, trophy Gist buckles and $6,000 in USTRC Flex Earnings. Second place went to Connie Pearce and Tim Peltzer and third was Travis Rich and Erik Wayne Pybas.
