ELLENSBURG, WASH. – Twelve years after the inaugural event, Scott and Jo Repp continue to host the biggest open roping in the Northwest. The day prior to the Ellensburg, Wash., PRCA Rodeo, the best of the best flocked to the WestStar Arena. Many of the PRCA ropers start arriving mid-August and WestStar is their home for three to four weeks while traveling to rodeos in the Pacific Northwest. They enjoy having their families close and horses on grass as well as a place to rope each day.
This year, Lane Ivy and Cesar de la Cruz partnered up to win the five steer average with a time of 29.77, winning $20,000, buckles and other great awards. Tyler Wade and Kinney Harrell roped the fastest steer of the weekend with a time of 4.75, winning $2,500.
