Howard Williams And Al Sanders Memorial Roping

Lincoln, Calif. –On May 5th and 6th, ropers came together to help organizations near and dear to the hearts of Howard Williams and Al Sanders. It was fitting that the Memorial Roping for Howard and Al was held at the Lincoln, Calif. Rodeo Grounds as they both enjoyed helping CHSRA Dist. #3 during their lifetimes as Lincoln is the home arena for District #3. The Shriners Hospital For Children and Ronald McDonald House had helped grandchildern of both men. After the roping was over, the Williams family and the Sanders family were able to donate $3,000 to each organization: CHSRA Dist. #3, Ronald McDonald House and the Shriners Hospital For Children.
All prizes were donated or sponsored for this event. Skyline Vaquero saddles were won by the high point header and heeler for the weekend, Darrick Hoskins and Bronc Boehnlein. Beautiful Gist buckles were also presented to Marilyn Williams and Frances Sanders in memory of Howard and Al.

On May 5th, in the first Handicap Pick and Draw, Glaser Saddle Shop headstalls were won by Darrick Hoskins and Bronc Boehnlein for first, James Miller and Kaitlin Bess won the Ropers Sports News subscriptions for their second place win and Mike Hastie and Jared Esteves won Steer Gear certificates for third.
In the #5.5 Pick, the same awards were given as in the Handicap Roping. First was Ryan Fowler and Wyatt Weinsberger, second was Bailey Bean and Dan Williams and third was Marv Barton and Earl Robbins.
In the second Handicap Roping, the same awards were again given. First was Austin Alvernaz and Cody Alvernaz, Jay Kellogg and Matt Griffith were second and third went to Joe McGill and Ryan Fowler.
In the #10 Roping, Gist buckles went to the winners, Darrick Hoskins and Bronc Boehnlein. Second were halters personalized with Howard Williams and Al Sanders brands and handmade by Danny Williams. They were won by Austin Alvernaz and Bo Patzke. Third place was a Ropers Sports News subscription, won by Darrick Hoskins and C. J. DeForest.
Prizes awarded on May 6th in the Handicap Roping were Glaser Saddle Shop headstalls, won by Waco McGill and John Wheatley. Second was Steer Gear gift certificates won by Dan Williams, Sr. and Scott Harvey.
Tina Webb made breast collars that were given to first in the Jr./Sr. Handicapped Pick, Denise and Garrett VonTour.
Gist buckles were awarded to the winners of the Century Handicap Pick, Larry Williams and Ted Williams. Cactus saddle pads went to second, won by Allen Sanders and Ted Williams.
