The 2026 Easter Roping came together at the beautiful facility of hosts Shane and Kim Parsons with blue skies and a strong turnout of competitors and families. This event honors the legacy of Rickey Green, a 10-time National Finals Rodeo team roping heeler and 1988 NFR average champion, and Vernon Lee Green, the patriarch of one of rodeo’s most legendary families. Both left an indelible mark on California rodeo and the roping community.

Vernon’s dedication to coaching his sons Chris and Daniel to multiple National Finals Rodeo appearances shaped an entire generation of ropers, while Rickey’s mastery of the craft and his generosity in teaching others became his enduring legacy. The day carried the spirit it was meant to celebrate, with worship music from Larry Wood, an opening prayer from Chris Green, and a message from Daniel Green that resonated throughout the grounds. For many attendees, the event felt like a family reunion, bringing together faces not seen in a long time and reminding everyone why this roping matters more than just the competition itself. The Green family has built this event on a foundation of faith, family, and community, and 2026 proved once again why it continues to draw ropers and families back every spring.

The event ran smoothly from start to finish, with Andee Cozzitorto handling the roping and Jeff Henly working the flags all day. Travis Kent supplied solid cattle, and Kingdom Ranch Ministries provided the sound system that kept the event running seamlessly. The volunteer effort was remarkable, with the Sherbo family, the Green family, and countless others stepping up from setup on Saturday through cleanup on Sunday. The commitment to detail and the willingness of so many to give their time is what makes this event special. Matt Wilson of Outlaw Saddles & Silver provided beautiful buckles for the winners, and the dummy roping for the kids — complete with hidden Easter eggs and goodie bags — added to the family atmosphere that defines the Green Memorial Roping. Thanks to all the sponsors who make this event possible, including Shane and Kim Parsons, Kelly Green, Marc and Liz Guisto, Jack and Bev Sparrowk, the Hagemann Family, and many others who give year after year to keep this tradition alive.
