The 74th annual Oakdale Saddle Club PRCA Rodeo paid out $132,200 over two performances at the rodeo grounds on East F Street, with Four Star Rodeo on the bucking string. Stormy skies and intermittent rain didn’t keep the crowd away, and seven events ran on schedule in front of a full house at the Cowboy Capital of the World.
Paden Bray of Stephenville, Texas walked off with the all-around saddle for the second year in a row at Oakdale, earning $3,702 between tie-down roping and team roping. He placed second in round one of the tie-down with a 9.2, finished fourth in the tie-down average, and split fifth in round two of the team roping heeling for Ketch Kelton.
Brit Ellerman and Todd Hampton took the team roping average at 15.1 seconds on two head for $3,062 a man, the richest team roping check of the rodeo. The Minor brothers, Riley and Brady, won round two with a 6.5. Denton Parish and Corey Hendrick set the pace in round one at a flat 6.0.
Clayton Biglow won the bareback riding at 83 points on Four Star Rodeo’s Big Star for $2,775. Bailey Small topped the saddle bronc riding at 85 on Four Star’s Toodaloo, worth $2,876, the richest single-head check of the rodeo. Hayden Webb won the steer wrestling average at 10.5 seconds on two head, and Colton Suther took the tie-down roping average at 18.4 on two for $2,634. Kathy Petska clocked an 18.10 to win the barrel racing for $2,775. The bull riding produced no qualified rides.
