PHOENIX, ARIZ. – After a lifetime of love, generosity, courage, and humor, Bob Tuley rode into the sunset on Oct. 11, 2019, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Robert Earl Tuley was born on December 19, 1940 in Boonville, Indiana, and was the youngest of 7 children of Basil and Ina Tuley. Bob began his newspaper career in Indiana and brought his family to Arizona in 1970 where he continued his career with Kramer family of Casa Grande, in roles for both the Dispatch and the Coolidge Examiner for 36 dedicated years, before he started his own paper, The Arizona Jackpot, over 15 years ago. In his roles, Bob enthusiastically and seamlessly blended together equal parts savvy businessman, entrepreneur, writer, editor, photographer, mentor, and friend.
Bob’s achievements were as varied as his talents and took him all over the world—including outings as a certified scuba diver, epic four wheeling adventures, and honing his skills at gambling and playing cards. He served his country with pride as an Army soldier in the 82nd Airborne, volunteered time and energy with the West Pinal County and Santa Cruz Mounted Sheriffs Posses, and recently received his pin for dedicating 50 years of service to the community as a proud Mason. Bob was also known as an outstanding member of the Lions Club in Coolidge and Optimist Club of Casa Grande. He also spent many hours with the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce where he was not only a member but served on the board for several years.
Even on horseback, Bob was a force to be reckoned with, including years of ranching and riding. He was an accomplished horseman in both team roping and team penning, and loved to pass the time as a mounted shooter.
At home he was a skilled craftsman. Bob’s talents extended to welding, metal working, and utilizing the plasma cutter. He made many things for his family and friends that will be treasured for years to come.
Bob Tuley is survived by the love of his life for the past 33 years, Ms. Judy Fleming; his daughters Mrs. Kim Temple (with husband Steve) and Mrs. Kelli Kent (with husband Jon); as well as Judy’s children, Beau Fleming and Mary Fleming. One of the joys of Bob’s life was spending time with his grandchildren, Kristofer Kent (with wife Song Ja), Kymberly Kent (with Joel Wagner), Tyler Temple, Tyler Corrasco, Justin Walters, Angelica Hogan (with husband Kevin), and his only great-grandson, Jackson Hogan. Bob will also be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held November 2, 2019, at the Casa Grande Rodeo Grounds. To honor Bob Tuley’s legacy as a companion, father, grandfather as well as businessman, and gentleman, in lieu of flowers, please feel free to send memorial donations to St. Jude’s Hospital; the Disabled American Veterans; St. Joseph’s Hospital; the American Cancer Society; or, any charitable organization you may prefer.
