MADERA, CALIF. – Will Gill & Sons, along with Joe Murray and Jim Wheatley, would like to extend a great big thank you to all who helped make the 10th bi-annual “Horses with a History” Ranch & Performance Horse Production Sale a huge success:
Auctioneer was (the great) Rick Machado from Arroyo Grande, Calif., while pedigrees were done by John Johnson from Piedmont, South Dakota. Valley Feed of Madera provided gift certificates to the purchaser of the top horse and the top buyer. Congratulations go to Ken Negrete who purchased Top Horse, Jim Wheatley’s JW Baywood Guy, for $33,500. Ken Negrete also is recognized as this year’s Top Buyer.
Petrucci’s BBQ and the Madera 20-30 Club offered opportunities for food and refreshments to all who attended. There was also a kiosk run by Katelyn Abshire, serving coffee and doughnuts for the morning previews. Our catalogs were designed by Vigna Designs out of Hollister, Calif. Our social media was engineered by Kimi Oaks with Chris Vaughn and Kaci Gill.
We would like to thank all of our consignors for their participation: Jim Wheatley, Joe and Cathy Murray, Clarot Horses, Dan and Andra Erickson of Erickson Ranch, Jennifer and Tyler Holzum of Holzum Quarter Horses, and Jack and Beverly Sparrowk of Sparrowk Livestock.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was perfect for the sale, sunny, light breeze, high around 80. Will Gill, Jr., founder of the Will Gill & Sons breeding program, made his appearance. At 97 years young, he is still keeping an eye on things and is proud of the efforts his family is putting into growing the program.
We would also like to thank the approximately 800 people who came out and were a part of things this year. The biggest thing we agree on is that we have a wonderful crew that has been coming together throughout all of our sales, a crew that has really gelled! Things ran smoother than ever.
