The Clements Buckaroos welcomed barrel racers from both near and far for the 2013 Wine Country Classic Oct. 4, 5 and 6. The first Wine Country Classic was produced by the Clements Buckaroos in 1999 and continued for several years. After some changes, other associations and groups produced the event, but this year the Clements Buckaroo members Desiree Capella & Rayanne Currin along with help of other members produced seven weekly jackpots throughout the year with Wine Country being the finale.
The new October date made for cooler weather for all! Friday afternoon started with time only’s followed by the $250 Warm-Up race sponsored by Ropers Sports News. The Clements Buckaroos was started in 1940 as a recreational riding group and went on to produce the Clements Stampede & Horseshow. Nona Vukovich is this year’s president, she has worked tirelessly to try and restore the club’s membership with horse people who want to have fun and enjoy events at these rodeo grounds! The club in the past has had only one type of membership, but this year we’ve introduced a new (non-voting) Associate Membership. A full membership doesn’t cost anymore, you just have to attend a meeting and be voted in. Meetings and information can be found on www.clementsbuckaroos.com. After the first of the year we will have new membership information available. We hope you’ll consider joining the club next year as we are planning to add additional races & increase the added money for the 2014 Wine Country Classic.
