Pacific Coast Shootouts: 1,700 Teams Over Fourth of July at Taylorsville

Roping is still alive in California, and the Fourth of July weekend at Taylorsville proved it. Pacific Coast Shootouts brought its holiday production back to the Indian Valley Riding and Roping Club for three days of roping July 1, 2, and 3, and the ropers answered with a turnout north of 1,700 teams across the run. Producer Steve Simons and Pacific Coast Shootouts hung 46 buckles and five saddles over the weekend, with none of the saddle money coming out of the ropers’ pockets, thanks to sponsorship from S Bar J Cattle and Pacific Coast Shootouts. The roping ran on the Global Handicap and WSTR number system with two-thirds payback in cash and awards. Each day was its own separate roping, and the results below are reported by day, with money shown per man.
