Trailers At WCRA Finals

     As the 2012 season of the West Coast Roping Association came to an end, a feeling of satisfaction and gratitude came over me. The Finals were a success. Our team count, member participation, and unfortunately the weather, were up. Close to 300 members braved the 100+ afternoons for a chance at $70,000 in awards. When the last steer ran and the points were tallied Tanner James, Kevin Dias, and Preston Burgess had won a brand new CM trailer.  A huge thanks goes out to JH Sanders for their support and assistance with the purchase of these trailers.  
     Toni Machado, Lynette Wooten, and Megan Cardwell ran the office very efficiently. At times, the heat and humidity got the best of a few of the ropers, but Toni, Lynette, and Megan handled every roper in a professional manner and had the next ropings posted well before the start times. Wendy Stark ran the first arena beautifully. Wendy and Toni have been the mainstay of our association. Thank you again for all that you two do for the WCRA and myself. Thank you, Joyce Willard, for an outstanding job with the second arena.  
     This year we were once again blessed with the ground crew consisting of Mark Rouff and Mike Owens (aka The Water Boy). It was hard to believe that the temperatures broke 100 degrees each day simply because of the lack of dust. Bill Butler and Blaine Lockett did a fantastic job of flagging and were invaluable.  
The biggest thanks goes out to all our members. Without you these Finals would not be possible. It is unbelievable that a little association like ours boasts four full-time arenas, and that approximately 750 members could generate so many awards. The best part is that you almost always know the person who has won. Thank you once again your support and your commendable sportsmanship. You have made producing ropings for you a joy.
