Butch Littrell, Oct. 22, 1941 - Feb. 2, 2023

WOODLAND, CALIF. – Jonas Paul Littrell, “Butch,” 81, passed away unexpectedly on February 2, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Butch was born in Kansas and migrated to California with his parents, Arthur and Dorothy, and his three sisters, Charolotte, Janice and Ruthetta.
Butch was raised on a family ranch in Woodland during the depression. He got his nickname “the little butcher” or Butch during the black-market days when his dad did ranch butchering during the war.
Butch went to Plainfield School, then on to Woodland High, graduating in 1960. Growing up on a ranch with a father who rodeoed, it was inevitable that horses, cattle and roping would come naurally, which ultimately led him to Connie Wandel through roping.
Butch married Connie on February 14, 1975, and lived on the ranch where he was raised and ultimately raised his daughter, Paige. During this time Butch worked at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital in Davis, Calif. The VMTH was nothing short of a second family. He worked in the Large Animal Surgery Department during his tenure. While at the VMTH, Butch was also a part of the VERT (Veterinary Emergency Response Team) where he received numerous awards for his hard work and dedication during disasters.
After retirement in 2005, Butch and Connie developed a breeding and layup facility on the ranch in Woodland.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Janice Yonce and Ruthetta Germeshausen, brothers-in-law Harry Gremeshausen, Larry Germeshausen and Kenneth Yonce.
He is survived by his wife Connie of 48 years; sister Charolotte Germeshausen, daughter Paige Littrell, son-in-law William Worley and grandson Cash Paul Worley, who was the light of his life and who lovingly called him “Papa.”
A celebration of life was held March 11 at the T-L Ranch in Esparto, Calif.
