For the second year in a row Charlie Prewitt of Sanger, Calif. won the high point saddle at the final of the eight month Hayhurst and Pennebaker roping series held on October 23, 2011 in the beautiful hills of Squaw Valley, Calif.
Ask Charlie what his secret is and he may just tell you that you can’t be so damn serious all the time and you just need to have a good time.
Jon Lauzon finished up a great year by winning a Bob Berg buckle for being the high point winner over the entire series. Jon also won a Montana Silversmiths buckle for being the high point Mountain Rodeo Association Member.
This was the biggest and best year ever for this small town roping venue. When you rope at the Mountain Rodeo Arena in Squaw Valley you rope with good friends and have a lot of fun times and great memories.
The roping producers, Randy Pennebaker and Bruce Hayhurst, want to thank Melanie Salwasser, Toni Wooten, Heather Hayhurst and Jennifer Cardoza for being our secretaries this year. A special thanks also goes to the Mountain Rodeo Assn. for the use of the arena, Steve Simons and the West Coast Roping Association, our kids and loyal friends for working the chutes all year, and all of the wonderful people who came up and roped with us. We look forward to 2012 being even bigger and better than ever with some new changes that should benefit everyone.
