LINCOLN, CALIF. – The Timed Event Challenge took place at Triple Crown Equestrian Center June 5, 6 and 7. This was an amazing event produced by Classic Barrel Racing and Wildwood Roping Productions with the help of the Just Breathe & Run founders and staff of Triple Crown Equestrian Center.
The event began Friday evening with a warm-up barrel race, won by Megan Champion on Wonder Woman. She also ran Saturday and Sunday to win the Open average and took home $2,093 in winnings.
Saturday the morning started at 9 o’clock with a Classic Barrel Racing Open, Youth and Novice and a pole bending that had more than 90 contestants. The ACTRA Team Roping also started at 9 a.m., with the first pot having 245 teams.
Saturday evening we had our first-ever Ladies 3D Breakaway Roping, which was a total success and Liz Hirdes won the roping to take home $1,379 and an award by Krista Williams Creations. After that was an amazing BBQ dinner with entertainment by Ethan Barmetler on the guitar.  The Just Breathe and Run crew put on a Stick Horse Race in the cutting pen, and fun was had by all.
On Sunday morning we were back at 9 o’clock with another barrel race and ACTRA team roping. Blake VanStavern was the high money roper of the weekend earning more than $3,100 and buckle from Just Breathe & Run. In the barrel arena on Sunday we had a new arena record set by Kennedy Bruce on Groovee with a 17.110, breaking the record formerly held by Casey Mathis.
Triple Crown Equestrian Center created a brand new outdoor roping arena with lights just for this event….it was awesome and we are so thankful to them and their crew for their tireless efforts to make every single contestant feel welcome.  Big thanks to Steve and Stacy Morgan, Pepe Fernandez, Dan Moberly and everyone that helped to get the facility ready to host this epic event.
This event was huge and we ran more 1,052 runs in the barrel/pole arena, 158 breakaway ropers and more than 750 team roping teams. We paid out more than $85,000. It was a super fun and crazy event. This event was supposed to be a small fundraiser for the actual Just Breathe & Run Barrel Race that takes place the last weekend in July at Rolling Hills Equestrian Center in Corning, Calif., but we sure did make it awesome and bigger than we ever expected. Huge thank you to Regan Davis and Emily Dodds of Just Breathe & Run for gathering all of the added money for the event along with the countless hours of work they put into making this event a success.
We want to give a huge thank you to our sponsors, without them the awards and added money would not have been possible: Once Upon A Design, B & R Sales, Classic Barrel Racing, Eric Barnes, DDS, Hailey Kinsel, Just Breathe & Run, JKD Construction, Krista Williams Creations, Meeks Lumber, PEB Commodities, The Kite Group, Ropers Sports News, Triple Crown Equestrian Center and Wildwood Roping Productions.
Thank you to each and every contestant that attended our event, we are grateful and hope that you had as much fun as we did.
